Dear Carol: My grandma has a sweater that she wants to wear every day. She has dementia so it does no good to explain that the sweater needs to be washed from time to time, yet of course, it does. Mom says to just let Grandma be unhappy for a while. It’s true that she’s fine when she gets it back, but she really gets upset and seems anxious when she’s without it.
