Caregivers Can Struggle to Keep Other Relationships Healthy
Dear Carol: I’m the designated family caregiver for my relatively healthy but aging parents. My siblings live at a distance and do what they can but I’m local, so the ongoing responsibility is up to me. I work from home, but even so, my early morning check-in with them as well as my evening visit and the occasional emergencies have eaten into the attention that I can pay to my teenagers and even my husband. One positive is that they’ve done the legal work. Any other suggestions? – CL
